Berner Memorial Park Playground Project Update

The City of Clifton and the Clifton Park Improvement Committee are excited to share a progress update on the Berner Memorial Park playground replacement project.

Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of our community, the Clifton Park Improvement Committee raised approximately $96,480 through local fundraising efforts in the month of December. This is a major step forward and a true reflection of how much our residents value safe and enjoyable park spaces for local families.

In addition, the City of Clifton has been awarded a $25,000 SEED Grant, which will be dedicated toward the new playground structure designed for children ages 5–12.

These combined efforts bring us closer to creating an updated playground that will serve Clifton families for years to come. We are grateful to everyone who has donated, contributed, and helped spread the word so far.

More updates will be shared as we continue moving forward with the project, including fundraising progress, equipment selection, and project timelines.

Berner Memorial Park Project

The City of Clifton is partnering with the Clifton Park Improvement Committee to replace the playground structures at Berner Memorial Park. While the City pursues grant opportunities to help fund this project, the Clifton Park Improvement Committee has established a dedicated fund through the Washington County Community Foundation to support local fundraising efforts. Together, we're working to create an updated, safe and enjoyable space for families to enjoy for years to come. Please see below how you can contribute to Cliftons new playground.

The Clifton Park Improvement Committee is seeking your help to make our park a fun, safe place for all to enjoy! Whether you live in Clifton or have visited for ball games, school activities, community events, or more, there's a good chance you or a loved one has benefited from the playground. After serving the community well for almost 20 years, the existing structures are in need of replacement. We plan to update the playground by installing new commercial grade structures in 2026. We hope you are as excited about this next phase of Berner Memorial Park are we are.

Please help us reach our goal of $125,000 by donating to the Clifton Park Improvement Fund with the Washington County Community Foundation. Donors will be recognized in one of several ways, depending on their minimum donation:

Level 1: $100
Level 2: $250
Level 3: $500
Level 4: $1,000
Level 5: $2,500

To donate, go online to https://washingtoncountycf.org/ and click on the red “Give Online” button. Scroll down until you find the “Clifton Park Improvement Fund,” and be sure to type in the gift notes section how you want your name to appear. Alternatively, you can mail a check postmarked by 12/31/25 to the Washington County Community Foundation at PO Box 24, Washington, KS 66968, with “Clifton Park Improvement Fund” in the memo. Donor names will be recognized as they appear on the check unless otherwise requested by emailing airikalong@gmail.com.
